2018: A Year in Review

As 2018 comes to a close, we can’t help but get a little sentimental. This year, like most before it, has seen its fair share of ups and downs. That’s the beauty of being a company striving to be the most effective platform it can be for churches. We have launched new and better features, and continued to make updates based on what we’re hearing from our members . We are excited for what’s to come in 2019 while continuing to look over our shoulders and reflect on where we’ve come from.

You see, Text In Church isn’t just any church texting service. We didn’t try and find a hole in a market so that we could fill a need and make a profit.

Far from it.

We were started when our co-founder was running his own photography business and starting a family – too busy to head up the guest follow-up initiative at his own church.

We were started when church was losing its place in a family’s weekend plans, when more people were at soccer games on a Sunday morning than church.

We were started when text messages were becoming the best way for businesses to connect in a quick and automated way with their people, and we thought, “man, what if…”

We were started at the peak of the mobile movement, when more people were accessing the internet, and each other, through their phones than ever before.

We were started at a time when individuals raised in church were raising their families without church.

We were started when church leaders were struggling to find time to effectively make connections with their guests that walked through the door.

We were started because we deeply believe the world needs the Church. And Text In Church gave all of us techy folk a place to use our skills and experience to do ministry – helping local churches leverage technology to reach more people. It really is that simple for us. And sticking to this mission as a company keeps us connected to a much greater mission that we are thankful every day to be a part of.

So, while we definitely want you to read our highlights from the year – because they’re LEGIT – more than anything we wanted you to hear our company’s heartbeat. What started as our CEO’s personal ministry of doing this for a few churches for free has transformed into a company working alongside thousands of churches, employing individuals from all over the world, and providing jobs that are secure, worthwhile, and flexible.

If you’re a member, thank you. Thank you for working so hard and for loving your community so well. We are thankful to be a partner with you.

If you’re still unsure about who we are and what we do, hopefully, this video will give you a super clear picture

Alright, now here’s a look at our year…

In 2018, Text In Church added 1,421 members.

Some stellar updates and improvements we added in 2018…

New website – pretty swanky, eh? Enjoy our new look, and easily access your member log-in from our home page.

Call forwarding – Use your Text In Church phone number for both texting and incoming calls. Their phone call will be forwarded to the main church phone number you provided at setup.

New mobile apps Text In Church app looks and feels like our desktop version, making messaging on the go even easier.

Plan A Visit widget – With a high number of guests coming to your website before attending, our “Plan A Visit for Churches” allows you to collect their information in a highly effective way.

Integrations – Text In Church is even more powerful with it’s seamless and automated contact syncing with Planning Center, Church Community Builder and MailChimp

And finally, some of our favorite statistics…

There were 1,973,480 emails sent and 13,250,849 texts sent in 2018.

Go back and read those numbers again.

That is over 15 MILLION emails and texts. And in case you can get a little data-driven and forget what an email and text really are, those are PEOPLE. Over 15 million times churches reached out to PEOPLE in their community, inviting them back, encouraging them, praying for them, thanking them for serving.

If you’ve struggled with the use of technology in church these numbers alone should help to alleviate some of that fear. That is a reach far outside of our capability as individuals. Let’s utilize the tools we have to make the most impact. We’d love to work alongside you!

Happiest of Holidays,

The Text In Church Family
