AI Is Not Taking Your Job… But Someone Using AI Might

Change Isn’t Coming, It’s Already Here

Artificial Intelligence is reshaping how we work faster than most people realize.
And whether we like it or not, whether we’re ready or not, it’s happening.

The question for leaders today isn’t, “Will AI impact my organization?”
It’s, “Am I preparing myself and my team to thrive in this new reality?”

The New Rules of Work

A few years ago, it might’ve taken a seven-person team to create content, writers, editors, a designer, a web specialist.

Today, one skilled content strategist with the right AI tools can do the work of that entire team.

AI can draft blog posts, generate graphics, schedule social media, analyze SEO, and help execute a full marketing plan, all in a fraction of the time.

That’s not science fiction. That's it for now.
And it’s not just marketing, it’s every department, every organization, every industry.

It’s Not AI Taking Your Job… It’s the Person Using AI Who Might

Paul Roetzer said it best:

“AI is not a threat. The threat is leaders who refuse to adapt.”

It’s not about fearing technology, it’s about understanding it.

The person who learns to use AI wisely, creatively, and consistently will outperform the person who ignores it.

And organizations that leverage AI to multiply human potential will outpace those that resist it.

Rethinking Roles with a Zero-Based Mindset

At Text In Church, we’ve started applying a concept I call Zero-Based Budgeting for Roles.

It simply means this: every role, every tool, and every expense must be justified in light of our new AI-accelerated reality.

It’s not permission to cut people, it’s permission to rethink how we use people for the highest impact.

AI should handle the repetitive tasks so our team can focus on relational work, strategic thinking, innovation, and leadership that builds trust.

The question every leader should ask is:

“How can we reimagine roles to multiply efficiency without losing our humanity?”

How We’re Using AI at Text In Church

Every team member at Text In Church has a ChatGPT Pro account, and they’re encouraged to use it every day.

Not because AI replaces their thinking… but because it multiplies it.

We use AI to:

  • Spark ideas faster

  • Draft smarter

  • Troubleshoot quicker

  • Analyze data deeper

  • Save time on repetitive work

All so our team can spend more time on the work only humans can do—connecting, leading, and serving.

This isn’t about robots taking over.
It’s about people rising higher.

Staying Humble and Curious

As a software company leader, I think about AI a lot. I read about it, test it, and try to understand where it’s headed.

But I’ll be honest, I don’t have all the answers. None of us do.

There’s excitement. There are real concerns. And there’s still a lot we don’t know.

But here’s what I do know:

Leaders who stay curious, stay humble, and keep learning will be the ones best equipped to lead well in this new era.

What This Means for Church Leaders and Entrepreneurs

If you lead a business, AI can transform how you plan, market, and operate.

If you lead a church, AI can help your team draft emails, create graphics, schedule posts, and coordinate events faster than ever.

Volunteer coordinators can use it to streamline onboarding, create schedules, and even generate volunteer appreciation messages.

AI isn’t here to replace ministry, it’s here to free up more time for ministry.

Albert Einstein once said,

“The measure of intelligence is the ability to change.”

In this moment, great leadership isn’t about resisting change, it’s about stewarding it well.

Learn It. Use It. Lead with It.

We’re not called to fear new tools.
We’re called to understand them, adapt to them, and leverage them for good.

The organizations that thrive in the next decade won’t be the ones that started strongest, they’ll be the ones that adapted fastest.

You don’t need to master AI overnight.
Just start. Experiment. Learn. Grow.

Because AI isn’t a replacement for human leadership, it’s a multiplier of it.

And the leaders who embrace that truth won’t just survive this new era…
They’ll help shape it.
