What's new in July: faster workflows, cleaner Upsell pages, and clearer pricing

Sunday morning moves fast. By Monday there are already a dozen small things that slipped, and by Tuesday the messages that should have gone out are still sitting in a draft. That is the tension we keep building around, because every friction point in your workflow is one more thing standing between you and the people your church is trying to reach.

Here is what shipped this sprint, and how it should show up in your day to day.

Making messaging feel more predictable

Most of the work this sprint went into the parts of Text In Church you touch every day: the inbox, the message editor, and the pending queue.

Non-GSM character highlighting in the message editor. When someone pastes a message with a curly quote or an emoji, those characters quietly turn a one-segment text into a three-segment text. Non-GSM characters are now flagged and standardized right inside the editor. That means fewer surprise segment counts, cleaner church texting software behavior, and less back and forth trying to figure out why a message split.

Time zone abbreviations on pending messages. If your account is set to Central time and you are traveling on Pacific, the pending list now shows something like "6:00 AM CDT" instead of just "6:00 AM". Less second-guessing, more confidence that Sunday's message will send when you actually intended.

Smarter default sender number. On the conversation history page, the "Send via" number now defaults to whatever number was used in the most recent conversation with that contact. If you have multiple lines running, you will spend less time picking the right one every single reply.

Mobile scheduling defaults now schedule. On the mobile app, tapping "schedule for later" without changing the date or time used to send the message immediately. That is fixed. If you set it to schedule, it schedules.

Building better Upsell offer pages

The Upsell builder got several updates aimed at giving your team more control over how offers look and behave.

Clone a product card. When you are building similar cards, like monthly and annual versions of the same offer, you can now duplicate an existing card and edit from there. Now you can skip the tedium of rebuilding from scratch.

Designate a "No Thanks" decline card. Offer pages often work better when the decline option lives inside the card stack rather than as a tiny opt-out link at the bottom. You can now mark a card as the decline option, and the opt-out link is automatically hidden when you do.

Optional description and text alignment control. The description field on offer pages is now optional with a show and hide toggle, and product cards support left or center text alignment for the title, description, and price. Cleaner pages, less workaround text like "Don't need description here" showing up on a live offer.

Cards without a Stripe product. If a card should show "Free" or a custom price rather than a Stripe amount, you no longer need to spin up a workaround Stripe product. Skip the Stripe selection and type what you want.

Clearer pricing and stronger integrations

Message Credits language across the dashboard. As billing shifts toward per-segment pricing, the dashboard now shows "Message Credits" instead of "Messages Used", and the Sent page can surface how many segments each message actually consumed. It is a small language change with a big clarity benefit at billing time.

Legacy vs. new pricing indicator on account profiles. Support staff can now see at a glance whether an account is on legacy pricing or the new 2026 structure. Shorter support conversations, faster answers.

Zapier custom fields. Zapier can now read and update the custom fields on your contact records. If you use Zapier to keep Text In Church in sync with other tools in your church communication platform, this opens up a whole new category of automations.

.MOV video uploads on Video pages. Uploading a .MOV file from a Mac used to throw an error even though the same file worked from mobile. Now both work. Fewer weird moments when someone is trying to get a video up before Sunday.

Connect Page button consistency. When a Connect Page has multiple buttons, they now render with a consistent shape across devices. Small polish, better first impression when a guest opens the page on their phone.

A Few Things We Fixed

We also squashed a couple of bugs that were quietly getting in the way. Bold formatting now saves correctly on tasks, both inside workflows and the task module, and the Digital Receptionist preview recording plays back the way it should when you are building a new phone tree. Small things, but small things matter when a volunteer is trying to set something up on a Tuesday night.
