Yes, It’s Crazy. Do It Anyway

Let’s Be Honest for a Second

Entrepreneurship? Leadership? It’s a special kind of crazy.

You sign up for more stress, more responsibility, and more complexity than anyone could possibly warn you about. All for the hope of building something meaningful.

It could be a business. A church. A nonprofit. A team.

But at its core, it’s the same story: you see a future that doesn’t exist yet, and you decide you’re going to create it.

And here’s the wildest part. Statistically? It probably won’t work.

That’s not pessimism. That’s data. Most businesses fail. Most leaders burn out. Most big ideas don’t take off the way we imagine.

And yet… here we are.
Building anyway.
Believing anyway.
I'm willing to try again tomorrow anyway.

The Honeymoon Wears Off Fast

When I first started my entrepreneurial journey, I was working 100-hour weeks. Literally.

And my wife, Kelly, who is now one of the most supportive, wise, and grounding people in my life, looked at me like I had lost my mind. And to be fair, maybe I had.

But here’s the truth: it was necessary.

That season wasn’t just about working hard. It was about learning fast. Failing forward. Getting the reps. Reading every book I could. Studying what worked. Trying what didn’t.

It was about figuring out who I was and what kind of business I wanted to build.

It was a firehose. And I drank from it.

Not because I loved the chaos, but because I knew that to become the leader I needed to be showing up for the mess, not avoiding it.

The Real Job Is Solving Problems and Building People

Somewhere along the way, I realized that entrepreneurship isn’t about finally arriving at “easy.”

It’s about solving one challenge after another.
It’s about identifying opportunities and moving on them quickly.
It’s about building systems and teams so you can multiply your impact.

That’s the job.

And when I stopped pretending it would eventually settle down, and started embracing that this is the game I signed up for, it changed everything.

It gave me permission to lean in. To get strategic. To grow on purpose.

Because leadership isn’t just about doing the work. It’s about becoming the kind of person who can carry the weight of the vision.

The Shift From Hustle to Intentional Growth

In those early years, I didn’t always know what I was doing. But I knew I was doing something that mattered.

And eventually, I put words to it.

I wasn’t just hustling. I was investing.
I wasn’t just working hard. I was working toward something.
I wasn’t just building a business. I was becoming the leader that business needed.

When I got clear on why I was pushing so hard, everything shifted.

I started to lead with more focus. More clarity. More impact.

That’s when the game changed.

The Crazy Ones Build the Future

If you’re in a season right now where it feels like everything is hard, that’s not a sign you’re doing it wrong. It’s a sign you’re building something real.

The pressure? It’s part of it.
The setbacks? Part of it.
The late nights, early mornings, and “what was I thinking?” moments? All part of it.

But here’s the difference:
Some people stop when it gets hard. Great leaders keep going with purpose.

So yes, it’s crazy. But if you feel called to build it, then build it.

Do the work. Embrace the reps. Learn fast.

And grow into the kind of leader your vision requires.

You’re not alone in the chaos. You’re in good company.

And if you keep showing up with intention, you’ll build something that matters, something that lasts.
